PENSACOLA, Fla. – Trailing by as many as 21 in the second half, No. 4 Jones got the lead down to three with under 2 minutes to play before falling, 74-66, to No. 17 Chipola on Day 2 of the Pensacola State Thanksgiving Classic.
Chipola improved to 8-1 with its first win in four all-time meetings against Jones.
The Bobcats, 7-1, lost their first of the year.

Dimp Pernell, who missed the game due to a knee injury,
Ky Pernell scored a career-high 27 to lead all scorers.
Chipola shot 59 percent the opening period against 29 percent for Jones to build a 40-24 halftime lead. Jones also committed a uncharacteristic 10 first-half turnovers.
Ky scored 17 of his career-best 27 in the second half to help spark a Bobcat comeback.
Avery Thomas II buried his lone triple of the game with 8:24 to play to cut Chipola's lead to 57-50.
Ky scored eight straight points to get the lead down to three, 67-64, with just over 2 minutes to play but Jones would be held without a field goal the final 2:10.
LJ Hackman scored 13 of his 19 points in the second half and got to the stripe 17 times, hitting 14 of them. Thomas finished with 13 points, five boards.
Kylan Howze had seven rebounds and five blocks.
Jones forced Chipola into 24 turnovers but committed a season-high 19 of its own.
Chipola out-shot Jones 53 to 35 percent.
Jones closes out the three-day Pensacola State Thanksgiving Classic Wednesday at 7 p.m. against the host Pirates.
