ELLISVILLE – Scoreless for 89:38 Tuesday night between No. 10 Jones and Southwest, two goals in a 14-second span capped off a wild final 30 seconds in a 1-1 draw.
Jones remained unbeaten in MACCC play at 4-0-2 and moved to 6-2-2 overall. The Bears went to 6-4-2, 2-2-2 MACCC.
The Bobcats played a man down the final 1:14 when
Cameron Chamberlain was issued a second yellow that turned into a red.
Lawson Harvey's goal followed less than a minute later that put Jones on top 1-0, scoring after a frenzy in front of the net.
Just when it looked like the Bobcats would steal a last-second win, Southwest scored in nearly identical fashion on the other end with 8 seconds to play.
The goal was set up on a yellow card on a free kick from about 35 yards out, bounced around two or three players and finally found the foot of Jack Byrd who scored off a rebound. The entire Southwest bench poured onto the field to celebrate a 1-1 draw with 8 seconds left.
The two teams combined for 36 fouls, five yellow cards and a red.
The final shot tally was 14-13 Jones. The Bobcats drew nine corner kicks to the Bears' one.
Carson Lee had seven saves in his first start for Southwest.
Brax Rials had five for Jones.
Jones plays its next four matches away from home.
