MOBILE, Ala. – After dropping the opening set, Jones won the final three to close out a 3-1 win at Bishop State to wrap up regular season play.
Jones improved to 25-7, avenging a home loss to the Wildcats back on Oct. 1. Bishop State fell to 9-13.
On Monday night, Jones fell 25-19 in the first set but battled to a pair of lengthy 29-27 and 27-25 wins in No.'s 3-4 to close out a 3-1 victory.
Harmony Jackson led the way with a season-high 21 kills, followed by seven from
LeAnn Lambert and six from
Lexie Drace. Tamirea Taylor and Janiyah King led the Wildcats with 14 and 11 kills, respectively.
Jackson eclipsed 400 kills in her freshman season, which leads the MACCC and ranks 14th nationally.
Jones hit .248 as a team compared to .167 for Bishop State. The Wildcats committed 25 attack errors.
Mamie Fromdahl and
Emily Boudreaux had three aces apiece. Fromdahl added 41 assists and 11 digs and Boudreaux had 10 digs.
The Bobcats now turn their attention to the Region 23 Tournament Nov. 1-2 at Northwest Community College in Senatobia. They will face Meridian at 10 a.m. Friday in the opening match.
