ELLISVILLE – The Jones College Bobcats will play their final home game of the 2024 season this week.
 
The Bobcats host Southwest Thursday at Bobcat Stadium/Sim Cooley Field. The game will air on 
jcbobcats.com/watch with Mark Easley and Chuck Robertson on the call.

Jones, 3-4 overall and 1-3 in the MACCC South Division, is coming off a 27-7 loss to East Central. The Bears, 1-6 overall and 1-3 in division play, are fresh off their only win of the year, a 34-20 decision over Hinds.
 
Last week, the Bobcats scored on its first possession. East Central had driven the ball into Jones territory, but 
Zechariah Parodi (Scott Central) forced a fumble and recovered it himself at the Bobcat 38-yard line.
 
Jones then marched 62 yards in 11 plays with quarterback 
Blake Murphy (Plantation, Fla.) hitting 
Marlon Lindsey Jr. (West Jones) for a 15-yard touchdown strike. 
Christian Baglione's (Northwest Rankin) extra point made it 7-0 with 6:13 eft in the first quarter.
 
But the Bobcats could not generate much offense after that. 
 
The Warriors scored two touchdowns in the second quarter to take a 13-7 halftime lead. They added two more two more touchdowns in the game's final six minutes to seal the victory.
 
Murphy completed 14-of-20 passes for 114 yards and a touchdown. Lindsey had six receptions for 49 yards and a score. Running back 
Gerald Modest Jr. (Miami, Fla.) rushed 21 times for 69 yards.
 
Defensively, 
D.J. Cloyd (Columbia) and 
Isaiah Lindsey (West Jones) each had eight tackles. 
Isaiah Lindsey had two tackles for loss and a sack. 
 
Before last week, Southwest had losses to No. 6 Holmes (48-31), Northeast (49-30), Pearl River (27-17), No. 7 Mississippi Gulf Coast (55-36), Copiah-Lincoln (42-16) and No. 8 Northwest (23-20).
 
The Bears scored all of its points in the first half in last week's win over the Eagles.
 
Quarterback Quez Goss completed 23-of-36 passes for 238 yards and two touchdowns. Running back Chris Hunter had 121 yards rushing and scored a touchdown. Defensive back Vinay Singh had three interceptions and was named MACCC Defensive Player of the Week. Tory Morgan had eight tackles, including three TFLs.
 
Both teams will end their respective seasons on Halloween Night. Jones will visit Pearl River for a 7 p.m. kick on Oct. 31 and Southwest hosts East Central.
