MERIDIAN –
Matt Reed's steal and ensuing goal inside the Meridian 10-yard line broke a stalemate in the 59th minute and
Cameron Chamberlain added a late score to lift No. 11 Jones over Meridian Tuesday night.
The Bobcats pushed their unbeaten streak to 10 while improving to 8-2-2, 6-0-2 MACCC. Meridian dropped to 6-6-3, 2-3-3.
Jones outshot Meridian 14-2 in the opening 45 minutes but couldn't find the back of the net. Bubba Guerrero denied all five Bobcat shots on goal.
Reed's eventual game-winner came 14 minutes after the half.
Chamberlain's 80th minute goal came off a
Parker Sellers cross into the box and header by
Cade Thortis that found Cameron for the goal.
It was the seventh shutout for
Brax Rials and the Bobcats in eight MACCC contests.
Jones goes to East Mississippi Tuesday, Oct. 22.
