FULTON – Isobel Kinsella scored the game-winner for Itawamba 45 seconds into the match as the Indians snapped a 15-year losing streak to Jones with a 2-0 victory Friday afternoon.
Itawamba improved to 9-2-1, 4-2-1 MACCC with its first win since 2008 in the series. Jones dropped to 8-3, 4-3 in the league.
Millie Webb extended ICC's lead to 2-0 in the 26th minute, scoring in identical fashion as Kinsella.
Both goals came immediately after initial saves by
Scarlette Roberts, stopping Kinsella before she grabbed a rebound and scored and the same for Webb.
Jones' best chance to pull within a goal came with 5:34 to play in the first half.
Sherline King tried to finish off a shot in the left corner of the net before a sliding Addy Stanford blocked the would-be goal.
Riley Rolison's shot from range in the 75th minute was pushed just wide and
Mary Grace Batson's header went wide right with under a minute to play.
All four Bobcat shots on goal were saved by Annabelle Holman. Roberts had six saves for Jones.
Jones continues a four-match road trip on Tuesday, Oct. 15 at Meridian.
