ELLISVILLE – After a slow start, No. 5 Jones scored three goals the final 12 minutes of the first half and cruised to a 6-0 victory Tuesday night over Copiah-Lincoln.
Jones' unbeaten streak in the MACCC reached 18 matches as they improved to 7-1-2 overall, 3-0-1 in the league. Co-Lin fell to 1-5-2, 1-3 in the MACCC.
The Bobcats played a man up for the final 77 minutes after a straight red issued to Francisco Miquel.
Cameron Chamberlain's first of two goals came off a corner kick in the 33rd minute.
Taylor Richardson bended in a cross that found the head of Chamberlain for the 1-0 lead.
Broc Bookout's right-footed strike four minutes later made it 2-0 and
Samuel Hadley had a breakaway goal with 51 seconds to play in the half.
Chamberlain's second goal also came off a header, this one from
Miguel Magagnin in the 48th minute.
Bookout added his second in the 57th minute.
Xabier Souto-Rodriguez capped the scoring in the 73rd minute.
Jones outshot Co-Lin 27-3, including 15-3 on goal.
Joshua Goodwin had three saves in 62:11 in net, while
Liam McGrath played the final 27:49.
The Bobcats continue a four-match homestand Friday against Itawamba.
