HANCEVILLE, Alabama – No. 14 Jones College dropped a 7-2 decision to No. 9 Wallace State here Monday afternoon.
The Bobcats end regular season play at 17-4 and will host the Men's Region 23 Tournament April 20-22 at the Bobcat Tennis Complex.
The No. 1 seed Bobcat men face No. 8 seed Copiah-Lincoln at 8:30 a.m. on April 20 in its opening tourney match. Other opening day regional matches will have No. 3 Meridian vs. No. 6 Hinds, No. 2 Mississippi Gulf Coast vs. No. 7 East Central and No. 4 seed Itawamba vs. No. 5 seed Northwest.
The Bobcats won a point in No. 1 doubles when
Tomi Nader (Argentina) and
Wallace Brewer (Germantown) defeated Lennert Lemahieu and Hugo Blasco, 8-5.
Charlie Brady (Australia) and
Tanner Bevard (Sacred Heart) lost 1-8 to Sebastian Gamez and Massimo Caliendo in No. 2 doubles.
Dawson Do (Northwest Rankin) and
Jackson Peoples (Northwest Rankin) fell 0-8 to Hudson Harden and Alex Rainer in No. 3 doubles.
Peoples had the Bobcats' only win in singles. He defeated Iyan Cresens in No. 5 singles, 6-0, 6-3. Nader lost a close one to Gamez in No. 1 singles, 4-6, 7-6, 7-10. Brewer fell to Lemahieu in No. 2 singles, 2-6, 2-6, and Brady lost to Blasco in No. 3 singles, 4-6, 3-6. Bevard lost 4-6, 3-6 to Alexandre Jaulin in No. 4 singles and Do fell to Massimo Caliendo in No. 6 singles, 4-6, 2-6.
