ELLISVILLE – The No. 15 Jones College Bobcats defeated No. 20 Itawamba 9-0 here Thursday afternoon at the Bobcat Tennis Complex.
It was the seventh time this season for Jones to win a match by a shutout.
Tomi Nader (Argentina) and
Wallace Brewer (Germantown) edged Joao Mendes and Tasso Moreira in No. 1 doubles, 9-8 (7-2).
Charlie Brady (Australia) and
Tanner Bevard (Sacred Heart) defeated Cade Teeple and Russell Moorman in No. 2 doubles, 8-4, and
Jackson Peoples (Northwest Rankin) and
Hudson Hans (Moss Point) beat Houston Walker and Sam Morgan in No. 3 doubles, 8-6.
Nader defeated Mendes in No. 1 singles, 6-2, 6-1, and Brady rallied past Moreira in No. 2 singles, 2-6, 7-6 (7-3), 11-9. Bevard bested Moorman in No. 3 singles, 6-4, 6-4, and Peoples beat Teeple in No. 4 singles, 6-3, 6-2.
Dawson Do (Northwest Rankin) whipped Walker in No. 5 singles, 6-0, 6-1, and Hans defeated Morgan in No. 6 singles, 6-0, 6-2.
Jones, 11-0 overall and 6-0 in the MACCC, hosts Millsaps in an 11 a.m. match on Saturday before traveling to New Albany to meet Northeast and Blue Mountain University on Tuesday.
ICC, 2-4 overall and 2-2 in the conference, hosts Indiana Wesleyan on Saturday.
