Bobcats win two road matches

The No. 12 Jones Bobcats won two road matches Tuesday.
 
Jones defeated Copiah-Lincoln 7-2 and downed Southwest, 9-0. The Bobcats are now 8-0 overall and 3-0 in the MACCC.
 
Jones will host Hinds in a 2 p.m. match on Friday.

The Bobcats won two of the doubles' points.
 
Allie Johnson (Hernando) and Michaela Anderson (Tupelo) beat Ally Everett and Anna Rutledge in No. 2 doubles, 8-2. Sophie Endt (Vancleave) and Reagan Salter (Lewisburg) downed Haley McCullough and Katelyn Berryhill in No. 3 doubles, 8-2. Daniela Tovar (Venezuela) and Maggie Savell (Park Place Christian Academy) lost 6-8 to Valeria Rodriguez and Keegan Thurman in No. 1 doubles.
 
Savell beat Edwards in No. 2 singles, 6-4, 6-4, Johnson whipped Thurman in No. 3 singles, 6-1, 6-0 and Anderson downed Rutledge in No. 4 singles, 6-1, 6-1. Annalyn Housley (Nettleton) defeated Makayla Martin in No. 5 singles, 6-1, 6-0 and Salter downed Makaela Rummells in No. 6 singles, 6-1, 6-3. Tovar lost a lengthy match to Rodriguez in No. 1 singles, 6-7 (5), 6-4, 7-10.
 
In extra matches, Endt beat McCullough 6-1 and Madelyn James (Northeast Jones) defeated Berryhill, 8-4.
 
Co-Lin (4-1) hosts Holmes later Tuesday and hosts Gulf Coast on Friday.

Anderson and Salters blanked Lorina Anderson and Mary Kuntz in No. 1 doubles, 8-0, and Endt and Housley beat Emma Carruth and Sophie Tompkins in No. 2 doubles, 8-1. Johnson and James won No. 3 doubles by forfeit.
 
Savell defeated Anderson in No. 1 singles, 6-0, 6-1 and Anderson beat Kuntz in No. 2 singles, 6-0, 6-1. Housley downed Carruth in No. 3 singles, 6-0, 6-1 and Salter blanked Tompkins in No. 4 singles, 6-0, 6-0. James beat Elise Gillissie in No. 5 singles, 6-0, 6-2 and Endt won No. 6 singles by forfeit.
 
Southwest (2-3) hosts East Central on Feb. 28.
