Bobcat women clinch third straight MACCC Championship

ELLISVILLE – The MACCC championship trophy is staying home with its rightful owner.

For a third straight year and sixth time in seven seasons, Jones College is the top women's basketball team in the MACCC.

Jones built a 26-point halftime lead and never looked back in improving to 20-3 overall and 12-0 in conference play. It's the Bobcats' unprecedented seventh-straight 20-win season under Missy Bilderback.

Sakyia White had 18 points and 15 rebounds, Meloney Thames added 15 and Carly Keats 11 in a game where 11 different Bobcats found the scoring column.

Jones led 21-14 after one and 47-21 at the half.

Jones shot 43 percent from the floor and was 14-of-18 from the stripe.

The Bobcats have clinched a first-round bye in the NJCAA Region 23 Tournament and will host a second round game March 1. They are aiming for a seventh trip to the NJCAA Tournament with a seventh consecutive region title.
