ELLISVILLE –
Eli Walker and
Blake Summerlin were brilliant on the mound and eight different Bobcats picked up at least one hit in an 11-1 run-rule victory over Co-Lin Tuesday night.
Jones moved to 3-2 on the season while Co-Lin dropped to 2-5.
Walker, making his first start since having Tommy John Surgery exactly a year ago, scattered four hits and a run over four innings in a no-decision.
Beau Bryans' RBI-double and
Tristan Pearson's RBI-single gave Jones a 2-0 lead in the first and they'd never look back.
Co-Lin pulled within a single run on Tyler Wolfe's single, but the Bobcats would score nine unanswered over the final six frames.
Pearson added a two-run single in the third to make it 5-1 and
Luke Lycette,
Peyton Bell,
Gatlin Sanders and Bryans all added RBI-hits in the seventh.
Jakob Wax's leadoff double in the eighth setup the game-winning run. He advanced to third on a passed ball and scored on a wild pitch to end the game early.
Summerlin threw the final four innings to earn the win, allowing one hit with six strikeouts.
Jones out-hit Co-Lin 12-5 with the Wolves committing five errors.
The Bobcats travel to Decatur on Friday to face sixth-ranked Kirkwood and Wallace State-Hanceville.
