ELLISVILLE – Jones saw a brief first quarter lead quickly dwindle away in an 85-43 loss Sunday afternoon to No. 7 Pensacola State.
The Pirates stayed unbeaten on the year at 14-0. Jones dropped its sixth straight to move to 3-7.
A 9-0 Pensacola State run helped them get an early 14-5 lead and it would stretch to 23-12 after one quarter.
The deficit grew insurmountable at the half, with the Pirates outscoring Jones 26-5 in the quarter and limiting the Bobcats to 2 of 16 shooting.
Jaida McDonald had 19 of her game-high 33 points in the second half as the Pirates cruised to the finish line. She added 13 boards for a monster double-double.
Both Gabriela Bendeck and Tanita Swift added double-doubles and Audreonia Benson had 10.
Valencia McFall posted her third career double-double for Jones with 12 points and 10 rebounds,
Allison Liddell had a career-high 12 points and
Aasia Wilson finished with 12 points and nine rebounds.
Jones shot a season-worst 24 percent against 41 percent for Pensacola State.
Jones will try and snap its longest losing streak in nearly two decades when it hosts Enterprise State (1-13) on January 11.
