PERKINSTON – Jones dug itself into an early 15-0 hole and could not recover in an 85-52 loss to Gulf Coast on Thursday night. 

The Bobcats saw their 22-game winning streak over the Bulldogs snapped that dated back to 2013. 

Jones fell to 2-1 while MGCCC improved to 2-0.

Jones had to call two, early timeouts during the 15-0 start to try and regroup. 

Hope Mealer banked in a three-pointer at the top of the key to give the Bobcats their first bucket with 4:13 to play in the first. It also snapped an 0-for-9 start from the floor.

Jones outscored MGCCC 13-8 after that to pull within 23-13 but wouldn't get any closer.

MGCCC led 41-19 at the half.

Khyla Ragins had a team-high 18 points on 7-of-27 shooting and added six rebounds. La'Genesis Johnson added 11 points and eight rebounds.

Jones shot 31 percent from the floor against 48 percent for the Bulldogs.

Jacylin Houston and Simaru Fields each had 16 to pace four MGCCC players in double figures.

The Bobcats close out a four-game road trip on Monday at Enterprise State.
