ELLISVILLE – Jones shutout Copiah-Lincoln in the second half to pull away for a 4-1 victory Friday to advance to the Region 23 Semifinals.
The Bobcats will face rival Pearl River at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 3 in Ellisville, with the winner on to the region final Sunday.
Broc Bookout put the Bobcats on the board in the 13th minute, flicking in a cross from
Banks McNair in a bunch of traffic.
Taylor Richardson netted his team-leading 19th goal in the 37th minute to make it 2-0.
Alfie Lally's free kick just outside the box bent in to cut the deficit to 2-1 at the half for Co-Lin.
Jones shutout the Wolves in the second half and allowed just one shot on goal.
Denim Lombard's 1v1 finish with the goalkeeper in the 69th minute, on a great give by
Miguel Magagnin, gave the Bobcats some breathing room. His
goal celebration received a 10/10.
Three minutes later
Banks McNair headed in a free kick from
Matt Smith to make the final 4-1.
Jones outshot Co-Lin 19-13 for the match, including 11-3 on goal.
Joshua Goodwin had two saves to improve to 9-2-1. Leo Summers had seven for Co-Lin but allowed four goals.
