ELLISVILLE – Hoping to get its revenge from a 3-1 loss to Pearl River in the regular season, Jones cut a two-goal deficit in half and held the Wildcats without a shot the final 45 minutes but could not find the equalizer in a 2-1 setback Friday night in the region semifinals.
PRCC advances to Sunday's final against Gulf Coast, while Jones will have to await a call from the NJCAA on Tuesday about a possible at-large bid to the national tournament.
Jones had two great chances early on
Denim Lombard headers.
The Wildcats got on the board in the 28th minute on a Tiago Honorio penalty kick after he was rewarded for a dive in the box.
Kristoff Graham extended the PRCC lead to 2-0 in the 42nd minute, taking a rebound from a Christopher Dommer shot and
Joshua Goodwin save and finding an open net.
Jones was the aggressor in the second half and outshot PRCC 6-0.
Lombard was hopeful for a goal in the 50th minute on a 1vs2, but it was saved.
Taylor Richardson's free kick in the 56th minute curled just wide over the bar.
Richardson found his team-leading 20th goal in the 63rd minute to give Jones new life, using a cross into the box from
Callum Black and scissor-kicking it in for the goal.
But that's as close as Jones would get.
Miguel Magagnin's free kick from the edge of the box missed high that would've tied the match in the 69th minute and
Broc Bookout's header missed in the 84th minute.
Jones played a man up the final 8:08 after Fisher DeCamp was issued a red card for a cleats up tackle, but couldn't take advantage of it.
The teams combined for 30 fouls and five cards.
Noah Nymark had four saves for PRCC against two saves for Goodwin.
