Samuel Hadley scored in the game's first three minutes and No. 7 Jones never looked back in a 5-1 victory over Holmes to close the regular season on Tuesday night.
The Bobcats improved to 13-2-2 overall and 9-1-1 in the MACCC, two points behind MGCCC. Holmes ends its season 4-11, 1-10 in league play.
Five different Bobcats combined for the five goals, with
Broc Bookout and
Taylor Richardson each scoring first-half goals to make it 3-0.
Holmes' lone goal came off a corner kick from Christopher Oviedo. His service curled in from the left wing and over the arms of the Bobcat keeper untouched.
Julio Martinez played a perfect ball in for
Noah Fayard, who one-timed it in to make it 4-1 Jones in the 70th minute.
Martinez added his second assist in the 86th minute on a touch pass to
Xabier Souto-Rodriguez who side-stepped the keeper for the goal.
Jones outshot Holmes 33-4, including 21-4 on goal. The Bobcats racked up 10 corners as well.
Two Holmes keepers combined for 16 saves.
Liam McGrath and
Joshua Goodwin had three in split minutes.
Jones hosts Copiah-Lincoln in the NJCAA Region 23/Gulf South District Quarterfinals on Friday, Oct. 27 at 7 p.m.
