SENATOBIA – Jones broke away from a two-goal lead at the half to defeat Northwest 7-2 and close out its regular season road slate unbeaten.
The Bobcats, ranked sixth in the NJCAA, improved to 12-2-2 overall, 8-1-1 MACCC. NWCC fell to 4-10, 4-6 in conference play.
Luke Dickson's first of two goals gave Jones the early lead in the 5th minute.
The Rangers quickly answered on Matt Roth's first goal to make it 1-1 after 13 minutes.
A flick on by
Taylor Richardson in the box found the head of Dickson in the 27th minute to make it 2-1 and Jones never trailed again.
Richardson scored his team-leading 17th goal and
Samuel Hadley added his fifth to give the Bobcats a 4-2 lead at the break.
Liam McGrath played the first 45 and picked up six saves.
It was all Bobcats in the second half who scored three goals in a 10-minute stretch to pull away for a 7-2 victory.
Joshua Goodwin stopped both shots he faced in net.
Jones closes out the regular season Tuesday at home against Holmes. The Bobcats need a win and either a loss or tie by Gulf Coast at Southwest to claim their fifth MACCC title in six years.
