Bobcats crush Copiah-Lincoln, 87-58

WESSON – It was another dominating MACCC performance for No. 12 Jones College.
 
The Bobcats took a 12-2 lead just three minutes deep in the game and cruised to an 87-58 victory over Copiah-Lincoln here Thursday night at Mullen Gymnasium.

Jones improves to 13-3 overall, 5-0 in the conference. The Bobcats, who have beaten Co-Lin 15 times in the last 16 matchups, snapped a 10-game Wolves' home court winning streak.
 
Meloney Thames (Choctaw Central) led four players in double figures with 19 points. Sakyia White (Tuscaloosa, Alabama) had her 15th double-double of the season with 16 points and 13 rebounds. Carly Keats (Neshoba Central) had 16 points and nine assists and En'Dya Buford (Olive Branch) had 13 points, three assists and two steals. Arianna Patton (Meridian) added eight points.
 
A 3-pointer by Thames gave Jones a 12-2 lead at the 6:53 mark of the opening period. The Bobcats led 27-18 after the first quarter.
 
A Keats jumper with 4:55 to play in the second quarter gave Jones a 40-23 lead. The Bobcats would lead 49-33 at halftime.
 
A White basket at the 3:22 mark of the third quarter put the Bobcats ahead, 65-40. Jones led 67-45 entering the final period.
 
JC's largest lead of the evening would be the final score.
 
Zykeria Anderson led Co-Lin, now 12-3 overall and 2-2 in the league, with 19 points. Leilani Lewis added 15.
 
Jones had 40 rebounds, 17 assists and eight steals. Co-Lin had 33 rebounds, six assists and five steals.
 
The Bobcats made 33-of-60 shots for 52 percent, 10-of-20 3-pointers for 50 percent and 11-of-16 free throws for 69 percent. The Wolves were 22-of-61 from the floor for 36 percent, just 1-of-16 from beyond the arc for six percent and 13-of-19 from the charity stripe for 68 percent. 
 
Jones returns home to A.B. Howard Gymnasium for a 6 p.m. Monday contest vs. East Mississippi. The game will air on JCJC.TV.
 
Co-Lin visits Mississippi Delta on Monday.
