Bobcats rout Northwest, 96-51, in Bilderback's 100th MACCC game

SENATOBIA – No. 12 Jones College scored the game's first 15 points and was never threatened as they cruised to a 96-51 decision over Northwest here Thursday night at Howard Coliseum.
 
Jones improves to 11-3 overall, 3-0 in the MACCC. The Rangers are now 6-6 and 1-2.

It was head coach Missy Bilderback's 100th career MACCC game. She's 89-11 and seeking the Bobcats' sixth conference title in seven seasons. 
 
En'Dya Buford (Olive Branch) led four players in double figures with 16 points and Sakyia White (Tuscaloosa, Alabama) posted her 13th double-double of the year with 15 points and 10 rebounds. Carly Keats (Neshoba Central) had 14 points and Meloney Thames (Choctaw Central) added 10.
 
Thames scored the game's first basket and the Bobcats were off to the races. White's 3-point play made it 15-0 at the 6:19 mark and the Bobcats would lead 23-6 after the opening quarter.
 
Another 3-point play by White gave Jones a 42-9 lead with 4:59 left in the first half. The Bobcats led 52-15 at halftime.
 
Arianna Patton's (Meridian) 3-pointer with 2:29 left in the third quarter gave the Bobcats a 73-30 lead. Jones took a 75-39 lead going into the final quarter.
 
The Bobcats' longest lead would be the final score.
 
Mackenzie Thomas (Laurel) and Valencia McFall (St. Martin) each had six rebounds. Buford and Payton both had four assists.
 
The Bobcats were 39-of-81 from the floor for 48 percent and they made 9-24 shots from beyond the arc for 38 percent. Jones was 9-of-11 from the free throw line for 82 percent.
 
Jones outrebounded Northwest, 53-34, and committed 14 turnovers compared to 24 for the Rangers. The Bobcats outscored Northwest 50-16 on points in the point and 36-5 in points off turnovers.
 
Kennedi Dean led Northwest with 12 points and Zoe Essary added 10.
 
The Rangers were 17-of-61 from the field for 28 percent and connected on 8-26 3-pointers for 31 percent. They were 9-of-15 from the foul line for 60 percent.
 
Jones hosts Southwest at 6 p.m. on Tuesday. The game will air on JCJC.TV.
 
Northwest visits Mississippi Delta on Tuesday.
