ELLISVILLE – Jones rebounded nicely from its first loss of the season to post a shutout victory over No. 16 East Central, 3-0, on Friday evening.
Jones improved to 6-1-1 while EC fell to 4-4-2.
Scoreless at the break,
Poppy Binding broke through for the Bobcats in the 59th minute.
Carson Turner played a ball from just inside midfield that Binding chipped over the keeper's head from just outside the box.
Leahmae Keogh extended the Jones lead to 2-0 about 12 minutes later with a finesse strike from nearly 30 yards out.
Izzie Scott capped the scoring in the 87th minute on Turner's second assist.
Jones outshot EC 28-8.
Makenna Yarrow and
Danae Fowler split the first and second halves in net and combined for four saves.
Jones returns to the pitch next Friday, Oct. 7 at Itawamba. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m.
