MERIDIAN –
Leahmae Keogh netted her first career-hat trick and
Poppy Binding added two goals and three assists as No. 5 Jones blasted Meridian, 7-0, Friday night.
Jones remained unbeaten at 5-0-1, 2-0-1 in the MACCC with its 22nd straight win over the Lady Eagles. MCC fell to 1-5, 0-3.
Keogh scored the first of her three goals just 6:45 in. Binding played a ball just outside the box to
Izzie Scott who crossed it in and found the foot of Keogh for the goal.
She added her second in the 15th minute from about 30 yards out on a touch from
Josie Duncan.
Binding scored the next two for Jones in the 22nd and 60th minutes to extend the lead to 4-0.
Sydney Johnson, Keogh and
Morgan Durning tacked on three more Bobcat goals in a span of 4:48 to run away with the 7-0 win.
Jones out-shot Meridian 30-4.
Danae Fowler did not face a shot in improving to 2-0 in 75:40 of work.
Danielle Flynt played the final 14:20 between the posts.
The Bobcats face their toughest test to date with a road matchup at No. 4 Holmes (8-0, 3-0) on Tuesday. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. on the Holmes-Ridgeland campus. No live stream will be available.
