Bobcats rally with three unanswered to down Patrick & Henry, 3-2

ELLISVILLE – Trailing by two goals midway through the second half, No. 10 Jones scored three unanswered over the final 26 minutes to shock Patrick & Henry, 3-2, in the 2022 home-opener. It was the first-ever meeting between the two programs.

Jones improved to 2-0 on the young season while handing the Patriots, out of Henry County, Virginia, their first loss (3-1) of the year.

Enrique Jacobs and P&H scored with 57 seconds left in the first half to take a 1-0 lead into intermission.

The Patriots controlled most of the second-half action, but Jones finally broke through in the 64th minute. Leighton Jameson played a 45-yard ball into the box that snuck over the head of the keeper and in to put JC on the board.

Taylor Richardson got the Bobcats level in the 80th minute, taking a bouncing ball in front of the goal and smashing it into the lower left 90 to tie the match at 2-2.

Less than three minutes later, it was Alan Rangel who scored off a Yussef Hakmaoui rebound to give Jones the go-ahead goal with 7:03 to play.

Jones racked up a dozen corner kicks but wasn't able to capitalize on any. They owned a small 14-11 edge in shots and were whistled for 22 fouls and three cards against just eight fouls for P&H.

Tyler Harris picked up seven saves, five of those coming in the first half, to improve to 2-0 between the posts.

Jones returns to action Saturday, Sept. 10 at home vs. Georgia Military.
