Hakmaoui, Jones deliver late-match heroics again

ELLISVILLE – Taylor Richardson found Yussef Hakmaoui with 1:45 left in regulation as No. 9 Jones defeated No. 3 Georgia Military, 2-1, in the first-ever meeting between the programs on Saturday.

Jones improved to 3-0 on the young season while GMC dropped to 3-2.

The Bobcats struck 10 seconds into the match on a three-touch goal. Hakmaoui served the ball down the field to the head of Leighton Jameson who hit Denim Lombard who headed it in over the head of the Bulldog keeper.

The lead stayed true until the 67th minute when GMC tied it up on a goal by Julian Rivera.

With time winding down, Richardson played a ball over the top to Hakmaoui who made a great touch to the right to juke the keeper and then scored it for the game-winning goal in the 88th minute.

The teams were nearly dead even on shots, with the Bulldogs owning a 14-13 advantage. JC drew 11 corners to GMC's six.

Tyler Harris tied his career-high with seven saves to improve to 3-0.

Jones continues a three-match homestand on Friday, welcoming Northwest to Ellisville for a 7 p.m. kick.
