Brooks Buffington reached a milestone here Sunday at the Bobcat Tennis Complex.
Buffington recorded his 100th victory as the Jones College women's tennis coach as the Bobcats defeated Oxford-Emory (Georgia), 6-3.
Buffington is now 100-11 as he begins his seventh season with the Bobcats.
In No. 1 doubles, Daniela Tovar (Venezuela) and Guadalupe Tocci (Argentina) beat Grace Wang and Emily Freestone, 8-3. In No. 2 doubles, Maggie Savell (Park Place Christian Academy) and
Michaela Anderson (Tupelo) beat Lily McCain and Allie Lucky, 8-5. In No. 3 doubles,
Allie Johnson (Hernando) and
Sophie Endt (Vancleave) lost 6-8 to Mayuri Charan and Livia He.
Tocci defeated Wang in No. 1 singles, 6-1, 6-0 and Tovar downed Freestone in No. 2 singles, 6-3, 6-2. Savell beat McCain in No. 3 singles, 6-2, 6-1 and Johnson rallied past Choran in No. 4 singles, 6-7 (4), 6-2, 10-0. Endt lost to Lucky in No. 5 singles, 3-6, 4-6 and He edged Anderson in No. 6 singles, 7-5, 6-4.
Jones will next compete in the ITA Fall Championships Sept. 15-17 in Meridian.
