MADISON – No. 14 Jones College blanked NCAA Division III foe Belhaven 9-0 here Friday afternoon at Cypress Lake.
Earlier in the day, Jones gained a forfeit victory over Holmes Community College.
The Bobcat men improved to 20-2 overall, the program's first-ever 20-win season, and 16-0 in MACCC play.
The Bobcats took immediate control in doubles.
Tomi Nader (Argentina) and
Wallace Brewer (Germantown) beat
Gaspar Meda and Bryce Livingston in No. 1 doubles, 8-3.
Nacho Vanecek (Argentina) and
Trey Hilton (Pearl) downed Matthew Ridden and Jason Ball in No. 2 doubles, 8-2.
Tanner Bevard (Sacred Heart) and
Jackson Peoples (Northwest Rankin) shut out Cainan Black and Tom Borgioli in No. 3 doubles,8-0.
Nader defeated Meda in No. 1 singles, 6-1, 6-1 and Brewer downed Livingston in No. 2 singles, 6-3, 6-2. Vanecek beat Ridden in No. 3 singles, 6-1, 6-0 and Peoples blanked Ball in No. 4 singles, 6-0, 6-0. Hilton shut out Black in No. 5 singles, 6-0, 6-0 and
Prescott Schaumberg (Indianola Academy) defeated Borgioli in No. 6 singles, 6-0, 6-1.
Jones hosts Southwest at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, weather permitting, and concludes conference play with a 1 p.m. match at Mississippi Gulf Coast on April 8.
Belhaven, 2-7, hosts East Texas Baptist University on Saturday.
