No. 12 Bobcats stay perfect in MACCC play

NEW ALBANY – The 12th-rated Jones College Bobcats moved to 15-0 in the MACCC with a 9-0 victory over Northeast here Thursday afternoon at the Bowman's Tennis Center.
 
Jones then dropped a 7-0 decision to Blue Mountain College, a four-year program.
 
The Bobcats, 17-2, go to Belhaven University tomorrow. Jones hosts Southwest in its final regular season home match at 2 p.m. on Tuesday.

In No. 1 doubles, Sarah Powell (Madison-Ridgeland Academy) and Reagan Salter (Lewisburg) beat Allyson Chapin and Carson Kitchens, 8-1. Michaela Anderson (Tupelo) and Madelyn James (Northeast Jones) blanked Asa Lambert and Mikayla Rogers in No. 2 doubles, 8-0. Jones won No. 3 doubles by forfeit.
 
Sophie Endt (Vancleave) defeated Rogers in No. 1 singles, 6-0, 6-1 and Salter whipped Kitchens in No. 2 singles, 6-0, 6-1. Anderson downed Chapin in No. 3 singles, 6-0, 6-2 and James beat Lambert in No. 4 singles, 6-1, 6-0. Jones won No.'s 5 and 6 singles by forfeit.
 
Northeast, 0-15 overall and in conference play, hosts Copiah-Lincoln on Friday.

In No. 1 doubles, Tsveti Trifonova and Annabella Natalini beat Andrea Vlasceanu (Spain) and Mia Höddinghaus (Germany), 6-4. Kristina Kozakova and Kiara MacKay downed Anderson and Addy Seward (Richland) in No. 2 doubles, 6-3. Nele Haas and Chloe Webster edged Allie Johnson (Hernando) and Endt in No. 3 doubles,7-5.
 
Trifonova beat Vlasceanu in No. 1 singles, 6-4, 3-6, 6-4 and Natalini downed Höddinghaus in No. 2 singles, 6-2, 4-6, 6-1. Kozakova defeated Seward in No. 3 singles, 6-1, 6-1 and MacKay beat Powell in No. 4 singles, 6-4, 6-3. Webster downed Johnson in No. 5 singles, 6-0, 6-3 and Lisa-Marie Roussignol defeated Endt in No. 6 singles, 6-1, 6-0. In an extra match,  Salter beat Haas,6-4, 6-4.
 
Blue Mountain is now 6-5 and hosts Christian Brothers Tuesday.
