Henson's home runs help No. 4 Bobcats sweep East Central

ELLISVILLE – The fourth-ranked Jones College Bobcats notched two more run-rule victories here Tuesday afternoon at Community Bank Park/Gwen Magee Field.

Nia Luckett (Philadelphia) allowed just one hit and the Bobcats defeated East Central 8-0 in five innings in the opener. In game two, Lindsay Henson (Lawrenceburg, Indiana) blasted two home runs and the Bobcats won 10-2 in five innings.

Jones, 23-6 overall and 11-1 in the MACCC, heads to Northwest for a 1 p.m. Saturday doubleheader.

East Central, 16-14 overall and 5-7 in the conference, visits Mississippi Delta Saturday.

The Bobcats took a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning. Aaliyah Dixon (Hillcrest Christian) walked, stole second, stole third and then stole home on the front end of a double steal. Carly Lewis (Jackson Prep) drove in Luckett with a fielder's choice and Kathryn Smith's (Luling, Louisiana) ground out scored Lauren Lindsey (Mobile, Alabama).

In the third, a Lewis single scored Luckett and Taylor Duncan's (Lake) two-run single scored Lewis and Tia'Rain Saunders (Choctaw Central).

In the third, Lindsey's sacrifice fly to right made it 2-0 and Henson followed with a three-run home run into a stiff breeze over the left field wall to put Jones ahead 5-0.
