ELLISVILLE – The 14th-rated Jones College Bobcats blanked No. 25 Hinds 9-0 here Tuesday afternoon at the Bobcat Tennis Complex.
Jones is now 17-1 overall and 14-0 in the MACCC and have secured a bye in the first-round of the Region 23 Tournament, which is scheduled for April 21-23. The Bobcat men are three wins away from being at least co-conference champs.
Hinds falls to 8-8 overall, 6-7 in conference play.
Both teams will go to New Albany for matches on Thursday. Jones meets Northeast Mississippi at 11 a.m. and Blue Mountain College at 2 p.m. Hinds hosts Coastal Alabama on Thursday.
Tomi Nader (Argentina) and
Wallace Brewer (Germantown) edged Kwanda Mbalekwa and Abraham Gonzalez in No. 1 doubles, 9-8 (5).
Nacho Vanecek (Argentina) and
Trey Hilton (Pearl) beat Cameron Courtney and Bryce Ramshur in No. 2 doubles, 8-3, and
Tanner Bevard (Sacred Heart) and
Jackson Peoples (Northwest Rankin) whipped Jacob Runnels and Justin Humphreys in No. 3 doubles, 8-2.

John Jabour (Warren Central) and
Prescott Schaumberg (Indianola Academy) defeated Brennan Wells and Dalton Jones, 8-2.
Nader beat Mbalekwa in No. 1 singles, 6-0, 6-3 and Brewer whipped Gonzalez in No. 2 singles,6-2, 6-0. Vanecek defeated Chris Albert in No. 3 singles, 6-1, 6-2 and Bevard blanked Ramshur in No. 4 singles, 6-0, 6-0. Hilton defeated Runnels in No. 5 singles, 7-5, 6-0 and Peoples beat Humphreys in No. 6 singles, 6-3, 6-2.
