No. 14 Bobcats improve to 15-0 in MACCC

NEW ALBANY – The 14th-ranked Jones College Bobcats improved to 15-0 in the MACCC with a 9-0 decision over Northeast here Thursday afternoon at Bowman's Tennis Center.

The Bobcats then dropped a 4-3 decision to Blue Mountain College, a four-year program.
  
The Bobcats, 18-2 overall, visit Belhaven University on Friday. Jones then hosts Southwest in its final regular season home match at 2 p.m. on Tuesday.

The Bobcats dominated in doubles.
 
Trey Hilton (Pearl) and John Jabour (Warren Central) beat Hayden Lassiter and Jeb Jackson in No. 1 doubles, 8-3. Jackson Peoples (Northwest Rankin) and Prescott Schaumberg (Indianola Academy) blanked Zack Marter and Gauge May in No. 2 doubles, 8-0. Jack Owens (Brandon) and Tahir El-Zare (Hattiesburg) shut out Chandler Ball and Wes Wiltshire in No. 3 doubles, 8-0.
 
Tanner Bevard (Sacred Heart) whipped Lassiter in No. 1 singles, 6-1, 6-1 and Peoples blanked Jackson in No. 2 singles, 6-0, 6-0. Schaumberg defeated Marter in No. 3 singles, 6-1, 6-0 and Jabour shut out May in No. 4 singles, 6-0, 6-0. Owens dominated Wiltshire in No. 5 singles, 6-0, 6-0 and El-Zare downed Ball in No. 6 singles, 6-0, 6-0.
 
Northeast is now 0-15 overall and in the league.

The Bobcats won two of the doubles courts.
 
Tomi Nader (Argentina) and Wallace Brewer (Germantown) beat Justin Van Amerongen and Rick Sakamoto in No. 1 doubles, 6-2. Bevard and Peoples defeated Leo Schon and Enric Garcia in No. 3 doubles, 6-4. Danko Yordanov and Axel Sperling downed Nacho Vanecek (Argentina) and Jabour in No. 2 doubles, 6-0.
 
In No. 1 singles, Nader rallied past Van Amerongen, 3-6, 6-4, 6-2 and Peoples defeated Schon 7-5, 6-4 in No. 6 singles. Yordanov defeated Brewer in No. 2 singles, 3-6, 6-1, 6-3 and Sperling downed Bevard in No. 3 singles, 6-4. 6-4. Sakamoto defeat Vanecek in No. 4 singles, 5-7, 6-3, 6-4 and Pablo Cruz beat Hilton in No. 5 singles, 6-2, 6-2. In an extra match, David Ajievi beat Owens, 6-0, 6-2.
 
Blue Mountain is now 8-3 and hosts Christian Brothers Tuesday.
