Luckett tosses no-hitter, Jones rallies in game two to sweep Northeast

BOONEVILLE – Nia Luckett struck out 13 Tigers en route to a no-hitter in game one and No. 5 Jones rallied for three runs in the sixth inning in game two to sweep a pair at Northeast on Saturday afternoon.

Jones improved to 21-6 overall, 9-1 in the MACCC, while Northeast fell to 18-8, 5-3.

The Bobcats host East Central on Tuesday before a stretch of six consecutive road games.

Jones 7, Northeast 0

Luckett struck out the side in the first, Lindsay Henson had a career-high four hits and Jones cruised to a shutout win in the opener.

Lauren Lindsey singled to score Luckett in the third and Henson followed with an infield single to plate Lindsey to make it 2-0 Bobcats after three.

Kathryn Smith's three-run home run in the fifth broke the game wide open.

Henson's fourth hit of the day was an RBI-single in the sixth to plate the final run.

Luckett finished with 13 strikeouts and was 2-for-4 at the plate. 

Jones 4, Northeast 3

Trailing 3-1 into the sixth, Jones rallied for three runs on only one hit and two Tiger errors to steal a 4-3 win.

Skylar McLellan's one-out single started the three-run inning. Sydney Pevey reached on an error to put the tying run on. Sarah Ballard's sac fly made it 3-2 and a two-run infield error helped capped the scoring.

Aaliyah Dixon homered in the third to tie the game at 1-1.

Holly Craft went the first 2.2 before Luckett moved from the outfield into the circle. 

Luckett scattered three hits, four strikeouts and two runs in 4.1 innings to pick up both wins on the day.

Carly Lewis and Dixon had two hits apiece.
