DECATUR – No. 16 Jones College whipped East Central 7-2 here Tuesday afternoon at the ECCC Tennis Complex.
The Bobcats are now 5-0 on the year and the Warriors drop to 1-1.
The Bobcats return home to face Holmes in a 1 p.m. Friday match. ECCC visits Holmes on Thursday.
The Bobcats led 2-1 after the doubles matches.
Wallace Brewer (Germantown) and
John Jabour (Warren Central) defeated Ian Gorden and Orren Ladner in No. 2 doubles, 8-3, and
Tanner Bevard (Sacred Heart) and
Jackson Peoples (Northwest Rankin) downed Samuel Turner and Kaleb Parish in No. 3 doubles, 8-1.
Tomi Nader (Argentina) and
Nacho Vanecek (Argentina) lost to Dominik Simunovic and Joseph Fletcher in No. 1 doubles, 2-8.
In an extra match,
Prescott Schaumberg (Indianola Academy) and
Jack Owens (Brandon) blanked Collin Taylor and Zander Meeks, 8-0.
Brewer downed Fletcher in No. 2 singles, 6-3, 6-4 and Bevard beat Ladner in No. 3 singles, 6-4, 6-4. Vanecek shut out Gordon in No. 4 singles, 6-0, 6-0 and Peoples blanked Garrett Crimm in No. 5 singles, 6-0, 6-0.
Trey Hilton (Pearl) whipped Luke Sanders in No. 6 singles, 6-0, 6-1. Nader dropped a 3-6, 3-6 decision to Simunovic in No. 1 singles.
In extra matches, Jabour beat Steed Springfield, 6-1, 7-6 and Schaumberg defeated Samuel Turner, 6-0, 6-2.
Tahir El-Zare (Hattiesburg) won 6-0, 6-0 and Owens lost 3-6, 6-7.
