RAYMOND – The 16th-ranked Jones College Bobcats defeated No. 21 Hinds 8-1 here Friday afternoon at the Cleon McNight Tennis Center.
The Bobcats are now 11-0 and the Eagles dropped to 7-3.
The Bobcats swept the doubles' matches.
Tomi Nader (Argentina) and
Nacho Vanecek (Argentina) defeated Kwanda Mbalekwa and Abraham Gonzalez in No. 1 doubles, 8-1.
Tanner Bevard (Sacred Heart) and
Jackson Peoples beat Cameron Courtney and Bryce Ramshur in No. 2 doubles, 8-5.
Wallace Brewer (Germantown) and
John Jabour (Warren Central) downed Jacob Runnels and Justin Humphreys in No. 3 doubles, 8-1.
Nader whipped Mbalekwa in No. 1 singles, 6-0, 6-1. Brewer edged Gonzalez in No. 2 singles, 6-3, 5-7, 10-3. Vanecek defeated Ramshur in No. 4 singles, 6-0, 6-1 and Peoples beat Ramshur in No. 5 singles, 6-0, 6-1. In No. 6 singles,
Trey Hilton (Pearl) downed Courtney, 6-1, 6-2. Bevard fell to Chris Albert in No. 3 singles, 4-6, 4-6.
Prescott Schaumberg (Indianola Academy) beat Dalton Jones 8-4 in an extra match.
Jones travels to Itawamba on Tuesday and hosts Meridian at 1 p.m. on March 4.
HInds will be at home vs. Mississippi Gulf Coast on Tuesday.
