Six players score in double figures to lead Bobcats to rout of Hinds

ELLISVILLE – Jones College placed six players in double figures in a 92-42 rout of Hinds here Monday night at A.B. Howard Gymnasium.
 
The win emphatically snapped a three-game Bobcat losing streak.
 
Jones is now 15-6 overall, 10-3 in the MACCC and will end the regular season with a 6 p.m. game Thursday at Itawamba. Hinds drops to 1-17, 1-12 and concludes the regular season Thursday at home vs. Mississippi Delta.
 
Sakyia White (Tuscaloosa, Alabama) led the way with her 10th double-double of the season, scoring 23 points and pulling down 17 rebounds. Meloney Thames (Choctaw Central) had 14 points and six steals. Jordan Clark (South Jones) and Arianna Patton (Meridian) each had 11 points. Olivia Knight (Pearl) scored 10 points and had seven assists and Nakyah Jones (Mobile, Alabama) also scored 10 points.
 
The Bobcats led 27-10 after the first quarter. Two Jones' free throws with 2:25 showing gave Jones its largest lead of the opening half at 50-17. The Bobcats were up 52-22 at halftime.
 
Jones led 72-34 after three quarters and took its longest least at the end of the game.
 
As indicated by the final score, the Bobcats dominated the game statistically.
 
Jones made 35-of-60 shots for 58 percent and hit 10-of-16 3-pointers for 63 percent. The only negative stat was the Bobcats making only 12-of-24 free throws for 50 percent. Hinds was limited to 17-of-48 from the floor for 35 percent, 2-of-8 from beyond the arc for 25 percent and 6-of-8 from the free throw line for 75 percent.
 
The Bobcats outrebounded Hinds, 36-28. Jones had 28 assists, compared to only seven for the Bulldogs. Hinds committed 33 turnovers and Jones had 17. The Bobcats had 17 steals and Hinds had only five.
 
Jones had a 46-18 advantage on points in the paint, 36-14 in points off turnovers, 17-4 in fast break points and 31-10 in bench points.
