ELLISVILLE – The 16th-rated Jones College Bobcats whipped Coastal Alabama-South 9-0 here Monday afternoon at the Bobcat Tennis Complex.
Jones is now 7-0 and will resume MACCC play with a 2 p.m. Tuesday match in McComb vs. Southwest. Jones will visit Mississippi Gulf Coast for a 2 p.m. match on Friday.
The Sun Chiefs, 2-3, go to Wallace State-Hanceville (Alabama) on Feb. 25.
The Bobcats cruised in the singles' matches.
Tomi Nader (Argentina) defeated Jacambrian Madlock in No. 1 singles, 6-2, 6-2 and
Wallace Brewer (Germantown) blanked Cody Bonds in No. 2 singles, 6-0, 6-0.
Tanner Bevard (Sacred Heart) beat Torean King in No. 3 singles, 6-2, 6-2 and
Nacho Vanecek (Argentina) shut out Channing Townshend in No. 4 singles, 6-0, 6-0.
Jackson Peoples (Northwest Rankin) whipped Patrick Waggoner in No. 5 singles, 6-1, 6-0 and
Trey Hilton (Pearl) whipped Evan Hered in No. 6 singles, 6-1, 6-1. In extra matches,
Prescott Schaumberg (Indianola Academy) won, 6-0, 6-1, and
Tahir El-Zare (Hattiesburg) won, 6-0, 6-1.
Nader and Vanecek beat Madlock and Bonds in No. 1 doubles, 8-1. Brewer and
John Jabour (Warren Central) defeated King and Waggoner in No. 2 doubles, 8-1. Bevard and Peoples downed Townshend and Cam'ron Crenshaw in No. 3 doubles, 8-3. Schaumberg and Owens won an extra match, 8-2.
