ELLISVILLE – The No. 4 Jones College Bobcats dropped a tough, 1-0 decision to No. 6 Northwest here Friday evening in the Gulf South District semfinals.
Jada Jelks' goal in the 65th minute proved to be the difference.
The Bobcats have seven shots on goal compared to three for the Rangers, but Jones never could find the back of the net.
Makenna Yarrow (Northwest Rankin) had three saves for Jones. Addy McCann was credited with seven saves for the Rangers.
Jones is now 11-2-2 and must wait until Tuesday to see if they will earn an at-large invitation to the NJCAA Division II Tournament beginning Nov. 14 in Tucson, Arizona.
Northwest, 13-1-2, meets No. 3 Holmes at 4 p.m. Sunday for the tournament championship. Holmes defeated Pearl River 1-0 in Friday's other semifinal game.
