No. 10 Bobcats overwhelm Holmes, 92-51

ELLISVILLE – Tenth-ranked Jones College won its 40th consecutive home game here Thursday night at A.B. Howard Gymnasium.
 
Four players scored in double figures as the Bobcats routed Holmes, 92-51.
 
Jones is now 11-2 overall and tops the MACCC at 6-0. The Bobcats will face a major challenge in its next home game when they host No. 3 Shelton State (Alabama) at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Shelton State is 17-1 and defeated Jones 85-69 on Jan. 4 in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. The game will air on JCJC.TV.
 
In the win over Holmes, the Bobcats led 46-21 at halftime and 65-38 after three quarters. JC's largest lead was 92-49.
 
Sakyia White (Tuscaloosa, Alabama) dominated for Jones, scoring 28 points and pulling down 17 rebounds. Meloney Thames (Choctaw Central) added 13 points, Arianna Patton had 12, Kimaya Dixon (Lafayette) had 11 and Jordan Clark (South Jones) added nine.
 
Mackenzie Thomas (Laurel) had 10 rebounds and nine assists with Olivia Knight (Pearl) getting six assists.
 
Shanbriah Rule led Holmes with 20 points and nine rebounds.
 
Jones outscored Holmes 44-24 on points in the paint, 22-8 in points off turnovers and 34-8 on bench points. The Bobcats outrebounded the Bulldogs, 52-41.
 
The Bobcats made 36-of-84 shots from the field for 43 percent, 11-of-33 3-pointers from 33 percent and 9-of-10 free throws for 90 percent. Holmes made 22-of-66 shots from the floor for 33 percent, 6-of-21 free throws for 29 percent and 1-of-2 free throws for 50 percent.
 
Holmes, 1-14 overall and 0-6 in the conference, hosts Mississippi Delta on Monday.
