O'Leary's game-winner in 77th minute gives JC 12th consecutive home win

ELLISVILLE – After being postponed three times, Jones College and Andrew College were finally able to compete on the pitch Monday night. Evan O'Leary's 77th minute goal gave the Bobcats a 2-1 victory for their 12th consecutive home win.

Jones stayed unbeaten on the year at 3-0, while the Fighting Tigers fell to 0-3.

In a match dominated by Jones in time of possession and overall control, it was Andrew College who struck first.

Elian Calderon scored in the 29th minute before Heath Hogan responded in the 36th minute to tie the match at 1-1.

Francisco Ventura had nine first-half saves for Andrew, including a stop on Elean Fajardo's penalty kick in the 44th minute, to keep it a tie match at intermission.

It wasn't until the 77th minute that Jones was able to take its first lead, with O'Leary taking a ball from Ethan Boles and drilling it into the upper right 90.

Jones out-shot Andrew 23-8, including 13-1 on net. The Bobcats had a big edge, 11-2, in corner kicks.

Jones opens MACCC play on Friday, Sept. 10 at Pearl River. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
