RAYMOND –
Clint Ryals, who subbed in the final three minutes of regulation, delivered a 94th minute game-winner to beat Hinds, 2-1, in overtime Tuesday night at Tom Shepherd Field.
Jones improved to 7-1 in beating Hinds for a fifth consecutive time. The Eagles fell to 3-4.
Yussef Hakmaoui gave Jones a 1-0 lead in the 17th minute, one-touching a perfect service in from
Elean Fajardo.
Hinds was able to square the match in the 68th minute when a long range shot from Yuta Yamada snuck just between the legs of
Tyler Harris.
Harris played the second half and into overtime in net in relief of
Garrett Wise, and picked up four key saves to get his first win of the year.
Into extra time,
Tres Ray found a streaking Ryals in the middle of the field, and Ryals beat the keeper to the lower left corner to end it just 3:42 into overtime.
The final scoresheet was nearly identical in shots (20-16 Hinds), saves (7-6 Hinds), corners (9-7 Hinds) and fouls (15-11 Hinds).
Jones will close out non-conference play on Saturday, Oct. 2 against St. Louis. The match will be played at Christian Brothers University in Memphis with a 1 p.m. kickoff.
