ELLISVILLE –
Elean Fajardo's 66th minute goal lifted No. 5 Jones over Copiah-Lincoln, 1-0, Friday night to give the Bobcats their 14th consecutive home win.
Jones improved to 6-1, 3-1 in the division, while Co-Lin fell to 3-4, 1-4 in the south.
In a well-played, physical match from both sides that drew a combined 32 fouls and five yellow cards, Jones was able to sneak by with a win.
Garrett Wise had three of his five saves in the opening 45 minutes, tested early by the Wolves, to keep it a scoreless match at the half.
A deep service into the box from
Kelton Keene in the 66th minute found the foot of Fajardo for the only goal.
Jones peppered Co-Lin goalkeeper Ben Parkinson in the final half, with Parkinson stopping nine shots.
The Bobcats step out of league play the next two matches to face Hinds on Tuesday and St. Louis on Saturday (match at Christian Brothers).
