No. 2 Bobcats post fourth consecutive clean sheet

MERIDIAN – Bekah Baugh scored a pair of goals and Jackie Dilorenzo added a goal and an assist to help No. 2 Jones post its fourth consecutive clean sheet with a 4-0 victory at Meridian Tuesday night.

Jones improved to 4-1, 3-0 in the south while Meridian fell to 3-3-1, 2-1-1.

Baugh's first goal broke a scoreless draw in the 37th minute. Running up the right wing, Baugh lifted a shot from about 30 yards out into the top shelf to give Jones a 1-0 lead.

Dilorenzo's second career goal gave the Bobcats some breathing room in the 63rd minute and Baugh added her second in the 69th minute.

Carson Turner put the finishing touches on a solid road win, sprinting past a pair of Eagle defenders and beating the keeper one-on-one with 25 seconds left to play.

Jones out-shot Meridian 29-2 and held a 9-1 edge in corners.

Makenna Yarrow needed just one save for JC, while Meri Laci Archer ended the night with 13.

Delaney Cooley and Kendyl Terrell added assists for JC.

Jones returns home on Friday to host Copiah-Lincoln at 5 p.m. Tuesday's scheduled match against No. 6 Holmes has been canceled.
