HATTIESBURG –
Acacia Rodriguez scored her second goal of the season just five minutes into the match and No. 3 Jones rolled to a 9-0 victory on Friday afternoon at Southern States Soccer Club to remain unbeaten all-time against Southwest.
Jones improved to 3-1, 2-0 in the division while Southwest fell to 2-5 and 0-3 in the south. The Bobcats are 31-0 all-time against the Lady Bears with 21 shutout wins.
Zylah Mulligan and
Bekah Baugh's goals within a minute span late in the first half helped give Jones a 3-0 lead at the break.
If not for a dozen saves by Southwest's Breauna McDonald in the first 45 minutes, the match would've been out of hand early.
The Bobcats poured it on the second half, scoring six goals.
Mulligan wrapped up a hat-trick with goals in the 52nd and 58th minutes from
Kendyl Terrell and
Jackie Dilorenzo.
Izzie Scott scored her first collegiate goal in the 69th minute and
Leahmae Keogh scored the first two of her Bobcat career in the ensuing 80th and 82nd minutes.
Jones outshot Southwest 39-1, including 25-0 on goal.
Makenna Yarrow and
Danae Fowler split time in net to give Jones its third consecutive shutout.
Jones will travel to Meridian for a 5 p.m. kick on Tuesday.
