Jones opens conference play with shutout of rival Wildcats

POPLARVILLE – Scoreless at the break in the conference opener for both sides, three second half goals from the visiting Bobcats in a match they dominated on the stat sheet lifted No. 4 Jones to a 3-0 shutout win.

Jones improved to 2-1 and has now won six of the last eight meetings. PRCC fell to 1-3.

Kendyl Terrell broke the draw in the 58th minute when she chipped the keeper thanks to an assist from Jordan Smith.

JC got a little breathing room in the 84th minute when Acacia Rodriguez netted her first of the season and Bekah Baugh put it away with an 89th minute goal.

The Bobcats out-shot the Wildcats 17-3.

Makenna Yarrow had two stops in her second straight shutout. Anita Gud had 11 saves.

Weather permitting, the Bobcats return to the pitch on Tuesday in Ellisville with a 5 p.m. kick against Gulf Coast on JCJC.TV.
