ELLISVILLE – Leading by two goals at the half, No. 6 Jones poured it on the final 45 minutes to run away with a 6-0 win over Itawamba Friday night for its first win of the season.
Jones improved to 1-1 while extending its winning streak over Itawamba to 13 matches. The Indians fell to 0-2.
Zylah Mulligan and
Jackie Dilorenzo scored in the 16th and 38th minute to give Jones a 2-0 lead at the half.
The Bobcat offense was clicking on all cylinders in the final period, scoring four goals on 14 shots.
Kirsty Cameron made it 3-0 in the 49th minute on a nice assist from
Bekah Baugh and
Keona Crowell scored her second collegiate goal in the 61st minute off a penalty kick.
Kaylee Chennault scored the final two goals for the Bobcats in the 79th and 88th minutes to make the final tally, 6-0.
Itawamba's best scoring chance came late in the half when Izzy Boyd hit the crossbar.
Makenna Yarrow and
Danae Fowler combined for a shutout in net without facing a shot.
Weather permitting, Jones will travel to Hinds on Tuesday night for a 7 p.m. kick in Raymond.
