ELLISVILLE – Jones used a goal from
Yussef Hakmaoui less than eight minutes into the match and made the lead stand in a 1-0 victory over Itawamba on a wet and humid Friday night at the Bobcat Soccer Complex.
Jones improved to 2-0 on the young season and extended its home winning streak to 11 matches. Itawamba fell to 1-1.
A foul just outside the ICC box setup a free kick for the Bobcats in the 8th minute.
Elean Fajardo's attempt hit off the top of the crossbar and Hakmaoui was able to grab the rebound and score for the lone goal of the night.
The Bobcats out-shot the Indians 19-2 and had several more scoring chances on the night that they couldn't convert. Corbin Martin had seven saves for ICC in net.
Garrett Wise posted his second straight clean sheet for Jones.
Jones will enjoy a week off before returning to the pitch on Saturday, Sept. 4 against Andrew College. Kickoff is set for 3 p.m.
