ELLISVILLE – Tied at a goal apiece and the clock winding down in the second half, East Central's Sasha Clare snuck a shot into the lower left corner of the net with six seconds left to lift the No. 12 Warriors over No. 3 Jones College, 2-1, Monday night.
EC snapped a 15-match losing streak to the Bobcats with the victory.
Scoreless after 45 minutes, Nicole O'Neill scored off a free kick just outside the box to give EC a 1-0 advantage in the 60th minute.
Kendyl Terrell found the equalizer for Jones in the 81st minute, using a perfect ball from
Keona Crowell on a free kick.
The Warriors then found the go-ahead goal in the 90th minute.
JC dominated in possession and in every statistical category, but EC had the advantage on the scoreboard. The Bobcats outshot EC 15-3 and had a 6-1 edge in corner kicks.
Olivia Clark had six saves for the Warriors. Newcomer
Makenna Yarrow had one for the Bobcats.
