SUMMIT – Trailing by a goal at the break, No. 10 Jones scored a pair of goals in a one-minute span to open the second half and added an insurance goal late to top Southwest, 3-1, on Friday afternoon.
After allowing three second half goals in a heartbreaking loss at Gulf Coast on Wednesday, the Bobcats were able to be on the right end of a three-goal half.
Jones improved to 7-3 overall, 5-3 in the MACCC and still has an outside chance at hosting the MACCC Tournament in two weeks.
Nauel Cruz gave Southwest the lead in the 37th minute on an assist by Carlos Aguilar.
Coming out of the half,
Adam Lynch and
Itai Allen scored in the 47th and 48th minutes to flip the game in the Bobcats' favor.
Elean Fajardo then netted his first collegiate goal in the 70th minute on an assist from
Alejandro Pocasangre.
Peyton Wilbanks and
Garrett Wise split time in net and combined for three saves and one goal allowed.
Jones will host Meridian on Tuesday for its final regular season home match at 7 p.m.
