PERKINSTON – The No. 7 Jones College Bobcats dropped a 2-0 decision to No. 2 Holmes here Sunday afternoon at Bary Thrash Field in the finals of the MACCC/Region 23 Tournament.
 
Holmes, 12-0-1, earned an automatic invitation to the NJCAA Division II National Tournament, which will be held June 5-9 in Evans, Georgia.
 
Jones, 12-2, will wait until Thursday to see if they receive an at-large bid to the nationals.
 
Holmes took a 1-0 lead at in the 8th minute when Ravynne Wilson scored with Olivia Deslatte getting the assist. It remained that way until the 73rd minute when Cariel Ellis scored for the Bulldogs.
 
Danae Fowler (Bay) was in goal for the entire 90 minutes for Jones and had four saves.
 
Carly Williams played 45 minutes in goal for Holmes and had one save. Layken Stockstill played 45 minutes in goal for the Bulldogs and had five saves.
 
The game was fairly even statistically.
 
Jones took 12 shots and Holmes had 10. Both teams had six shots on goal. 
 
The Bobcats had four corner kicks and Holmes had one. Holmes was called for 10 fouls and Jones had seven.
 
The Bobcats defeated East Central 1-0 on Saturday in the semifinals.
