Bobcats make statement in first-ever NJCAA Tournament appearance

EVANS, Ga. – Jones College made a statement Saturday at Blanchard Woods Park in its first-ever NJCAA Division II Women's Soccer National Tournament appearance.

Kendyl Terrell scored 15 minutes into the match and the No. 7 Bobcats used goals from five different players to run away with a 5-0 win over No. 10 College of Lake County.

"This has been a long time coming for our program," head coach Dolores Deasley said. "We have been the top team in our region for the last several years, and it's nice to finally advance to the national stage. It's been a brilliant experience for the ladies, and we are just taking it one game at a time and hope to keep advancing forward."

Jones out-shot the Lancers 39-2 for the match and peppered the goal for 90 straight minutes.

Acacia Rodriguez's unassisted goal in the 29th minute gave Jones a 2-0 lead at the break.

The Bobcats continued to pour it on the final 45 minutes, with Zylah Mulligan, Morgan Durning and Natasha Keen all scoring in the rout. Keona Crowell was credited with two assists and Bekah Baugh and Evie Simpson added one apiece.

Danae Fowler improved to 12-2 between the posts in 45 minutes and Abigayle Green had one save and no goals allowed the final 45.

Jones will face fifth-ranked CCBC Essex on Sunday at 4 p.m. CST, with a win putting the Bobcats into the national tournament semifinals on Tuesday.
