No. 7 Jones posts seventh consecutive clean sheet

ELLISVILLE – Kaylee Chennault and Kirsty Cameron scored their first goals of the year and Danae Fowler posted the team's seventh consecutive clean sheet in a 5-0 romp of Meridian Tuesday night.

Jones, No. 7 in the NJCAA, improved to 10-1, 8-1 in the MACCC and officially claimed the Bobcats' ninth south division title in 11 seasons.

Acacia Rodriguez scored 2:47 into the contest and Kendyl Terrell scored with 1:23 left in the half to give Jones a 2-0 lead.

Jones outshot Meridian 17-1 in the opening 45 minutes and 32-4 for the match. They also drew a season-high 17 corner kicks.

The Bobcats followed with goals in the 67th minute from Caragan Childs, Chennault in the 82nd minutes and Cameron in the 88th minute.

Fowler stopped the lone shot she faced in the 13th minute to improve to 10-1 with nine shutouts combined.

Jones will close out the regular season on Friday at Copiah-Lincoln. It's a 2 p.m. kickoff in Wesson at Stone Stadium.
